Weekend Finds

Happy Monday! Despite the gloomy weather, it has been a pretty pleasant day. How was it for you? Lovely, I hope!

Bradley and I visited an antique store we drive by often, but had not explored until this past weekend. And oh boy, I sure am glad we did! I have been on the hunt for some old flatware with little luck. Everything I had found was either too pricey, too tarnished, or too incomplete of a set, but I hit the jackpot at our new favorite antique shop! 56 pieces including serving utensils for a very reasonable price. In addition to our pretty new flatware, I also scored a precious set of deer bookends. They'll be a darling accent to Baby Dean's library of classic children's books I hope to build. Of course my clumsiness kicked in and i broke one of them! But luckily the head and tail broke off in large pieces so I will easily glue them back together. Phew! So there's my reason for having only one bookend in our little photos below.

We also hit up our local record store (yes they still exist!) and picked up a few good finds for Baby Dean there as well. A record player in the nursery is going to be a necessity. We want him or her to grow up with the same music experience we did, listening to his/her favorite songs and stories with the nostalgic crackle of the record and learning to place the needle delicately in the grooves. Okay, yes... I am a young'un and mostly used my Fisher Price cassette player with microphone, but I still loved listening to records with my dad while singing along to my favorite tunes, and falling asleep to my familiar stories. We want our kid to have the same experience and love for music. I am really excited about the 101 Dalmatians record. It was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and hopefully ours will love the story and music too. ;)
